"What is the ‘Gold & Silver’ Contest?"

The Competition ‘Gold & Silver’ is an interaction to spin two wheels (one Gold and one Silver) and an SMS Quiz contest.

Participants can enter the promotion and immediately be eligible to win instant prizes by spinning the silver wheel for free, plus a car, trips abroad, mobile money and smartphones every month. In order to be able to compete for the monthly prizes, users will need to accumulate points, either on the wheel, by subscribing and/or by purchasing points through one shot.

Participants can opt to subscribe to the ‘VIP Club’ that will award them with 10 points per each successful daily renewal at 0.5 GHS/day. Subscribed users will also access the Gold Wheel and will spin to win better prizes.

Participants can purchase points via one-shot, with each point purchase being billed separately according to the following table:

- WIN20 to get 20 points for 1GHS;

- WIN40 to get 40 points for 2GHS;

- WIN100 to get 100 points for 5GHS;

- WIN200 to get 200 points for 10GHS;

- WIN400 to get 400 points for 20GHS;

- WIN1000 to get 1000 points for 50GHS;

- WIN2000 to get 2000 points for 100GHS.

All monthly prizes are awarded by skill. The 100 users with the most points at the end of the month, will be awarded with the respective prizes as seen below.

"What is the duration of the contest?"

The Competition ‘Gold & Silver’ Mega Promo will run for 365 days from April 1st, 2017 until April 1st, 2018. Any entries received after the end date (for any reason) will be considered invalid for the respective prizes allocated for that phase/promo.

"Who can participate?"

All MTN subscribers who have completed 18 years of age and are permanent residents of Ghana. Subscribers who have a connection through contract, and/or card phone, and/or business account (in which case they must have their company’s permission to participate).

"Who cannot participate?"

All those who are not MTN subscribers. People who work in the following companies that are organizing this contest: MTN, TIMWE. People who are not permanent residents of Ghana.

"How can somebody participate?"

By recharging their mobile account and simply replying a free SMS with the keyword ‘SPIN’, users can participate for free and spin the wheel to win instant prizes. Users can also spin on the official ‘Gold & Silver’ WAP Portal and on the Gold & Silver application.

By sending an SMS with the keyword ‘SPIN’ (or any other keyword other than ‘WIN’, ‘Y’, ‘N’, ‘POINTS’, ‘HELP’, ‘INFO’ and ‘EXIT’) to 5040, the participants acknowledge their complete acceptance along with full understanding of these Terms and Conditions and provide their consent to receive further SMS communications onto their mobile phones, related to this competition and are subscribed to the competition for a daily price of 0.5GHS.

By sending an SMS with the keywords ‘WIN20’, ‘WIN40’, ‘WIN100’, ‘WIN200’, ‘WIN400’, ‘WIN1000’ and ‘WIN2000’ to purchase points for the monthly prizes through one-shot. Each points purchase will award the user different points and will have a different cost, based on the table below:

- WIN20 to get 20 points for 1GHS;

- WIN40 to get 40 points for 2GHS;

- WIN100 to get 100 points for 5GHS;

- WIN200 to get 200 points for 10GHS;

- WIN400 to get 400 points for 20GHS;

- WIN1000 to get 1000 points for 50GHS;

- WIN2000 to get 2000 points for 100GHS.

The Organizer accepts no responsibility whatsoever for, including without limitation, any error, omission, interruption, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure when it is not under its direct control and execution.

"To what number do I send SMS?"

The number to send SMS is 5040 for all free interactions and for all billed interactions 5040.

"How much does each SMS to 5040 cost?"

The subscription keyword VIP and points purchase keywords WIN20, WIN40, WIN100, WIN200, WIN400, WIN1000, WIN2000 are paid. The free keywords are: POINTS to check your current points, EXIT do cancel your subscription, HELP to know more about the campaign and SPIN to spin the wheel to win prizes.

"I have received SMS from 5040. Am I charged for these?"

If participant is subscribed to VIP Club, he will receive every day a renewal message, billed in 0.50GHS. All other SMS received with information regarding the contest are free of charge.

"I have received a SMS regarding the contest, although I have not sent any SMS to participate."

Since this is a contest with many great prizes, MTN wishes to inform all subscribers so that they can participate and win. If you do not want to receive information regarding the contest, send the word STOP to 5040, free of charge.

"How many SMS can I send?"

There is no limit to the number of SMS one can send for the contest. Participants can send as many SMS they want, 24/7.

"How many prizes will be given away?"

Monthly prizes:

- 1 Hyundai i10, attributed by skill to the user with the most points per month;

- 2 Trips Abroad, attributed by skill to the 2nd and 3rd user with the most points per month;

- 7 prizes of 2.000GHS in Mobile Money, attributed by skill to the 4th to 10th users with the most points per month;

- 10 prizes of 1.000GHS in Mobile Money, attributed by skill to the 11th to 20th users with the most points per month;

- 30 4G Smartphones, attributed by skill to the 21st to 50th users with the most points per month;

- 30 prizes of 200GHS in Mobile Money, attributed by skill to the 51st to 80th users with the most points per month;

- 20 prizes of 100GHS in Mobile Money, attributed by skill to the 81st to 100th users with the most points per month.

"What is the meaning of points?"

Each point awarded to the participant increases the chances of winning the skill prizes. The users with the most points on each monthly prize period will be awarded the prizes.

"How many points do I have?"

To find out how many points you have, send the word POINTS to 5040, from an MTN mobile.

"I have sent my first SMS. Do I participate for the prizes?"

If your first SMS is ‘SPIN’ and you have available spins, you will not be charged and will gain an instant prize. If you first SMS is ‘VIP’ (or any other non-promoted keyword) you’ll be charged for 0.50GHS and will participate for the prizes available for the period of the charge. If the participant subscribes the VIP Club, he/she is also eligible for prizes available for the period of the charge.

"I am trying to send SMS to 5040 from my mobile but it is not possible to do so. What can I do?"

This promo is only for MTN’s subscribers. If you are a MTN subscriber, check if the memory of your messages is full. Delete some messages and try again. For card phones, please check your balance.

"What are ‘informational SMS'?"

These are SMS with information regarding the contest which subscribers receive with or without having previously sent a respective SMS. I.e. a participant may receive a SMS informing him about today’s extra prize. All SMS subscribers receive regarding the contest are free of charge.

"Is it possible not to receive informational SMS regarding the contest?"

Of course! If you do not want to receive information regarding the contest send the word STOP to 5040.

"What happens if someone participates in the contest with a mobile that does not belong to him?"

Each participant is the rightful owner of the respective SIM card or that he has received permission from the owner to participate. In case the participant wins, the winner must provide the SIM card with which he won.

"How do I subscribe to the VIP Club?"

Text VIP to 5040.

"What happens if someone participates in the contest with a corporate mobile?"

If a winner has used his business mobile to participate, to receive the prize, he must present from the respective authorization from his company, signed from whoever has such authority in the company.

"How do I know if I have won?"

All winners will be formally contacted to be informed that they have indeed won.

"If I win can I continue playing to win another prize?"

Every participant can win one of the monthly prizes one time. Instant prizes can be won by the same user without any limitation.

"What do I need to present to receive my prize?"

When someone wins, he is contacted immediately by an employee who informs him that he is a winner and explains the typical procedure. The winner has to provide the SIM card of his mobile with which he won, proper ID, and if he is a subscriber by contract, the receipt of paying the bill of the respective mobile that corresponds to the period of the contest, including the day he won in the contest.

After each day, the numbers of the winners are given to the call center in order to contact winners and inform them accordingly. The call center calls continuously for 72 hours trying to contact the winner at the mobile with which he participated in the contest. After the 72-hour period has expired, and it has been impossible to contact the winner, the procedure will be repeated with the first runner up. After the winner has been contacted, the call center will try to confirm that the person contacted, was the same person that participated in the contest.

"If I win, when do I get my prize?"

All prizes will be awarded within 180 days of the last day of the Game. It should be noted that if the winner has an MTN connection through a contract, to receive the prize, he must present the receipt of paying the bill of the respective mobile that corresponds to the period of the contest, including the day he won in the contest.

"Besides the winners, are there runners up?"

For every winner, there are five runners up, for the following cases: In case a winner refuses to accept his prize; In case it is impossible to find and notify the winner; In case the winner does not accept, or does not comply with the terms and conditions of the contest.

"I have sent a SMS but have not received a reply SMS"

If you have not received a reply SMS, please confirm the following: Check the memory of your mobile in case it is full and you cannot accept more SMS. To clear up your memory you have to delete some messages. The message may not have been sent to the right number. Check your Sent messages and if it was sent to the wrong number, resend it to 5040. There is a chance that the network in your area is overloaded at the moment. Please be patient. If you don’t receive a SMS in the next 15 minutes, you can send a new SMS.

"Why, although I have sent an SMS, my points have not changed?"

Most probably, the SMS you sent is free or was not successfully billed. All other billed SMS are stored, so whatever the matter, your points will be updated and you will receive the number of your total points with the next message.

"Can I play using different mobile phones?"

You can participate with as many MTN numbers as you want. However, please remember that each number participates separately.

"Can I transfer my points in case I change the number of my connection?"

Points cannot be transferred in this way. In case you start using a new SIM card, you must keep the old one because if you win, you must present it to receive your prize.

"Am I charged for using the ‘Spin the Wheel’ APP/Portal?"

No. Both are free of charge for all MTN users. Only data charges may apply (depending on your plan).
